attack of the insomnia monster

I don’t sleep well. Sometimes, it takes me hours to get to sleep. Sometimes, I have panic attacks just as I’m getting sleepy and it sends me into a fully awake frenzy if the mind. Sometimes I will be working on the computer and not notice it’s 2 a.m. I just don’t get sleepy easily.

insomnia working late at nightI have tried so may tips and remedies. I take melatonin when I remember, but sometimes it ramps up my anxiety. Lavendar makes my nose itch, chamomile and valerian don’t do squat. Benedryl has that nasty hangover. I have tried using my sleepless time to get more work done. That is very unpredictable.

Many nights I will be tired but not sleepy. My brain functions have dulled but I can’t convince it to turn off for the night. Then the next morning, I can’t wake up. It’s awful. I need to be up at 6:30 when school starts. Falling asleep after 1 a.m. is not going to bode well. I have one of those bodies that needs a full 8 hours of sleep. Mike can run on 5 hours with no problem.

I didn’t get to bed until after 3 the night before last. When Fluffy came into my room around 8 to tell me she was up and going to eat breakfast I almost bit her head off. Luckily for her, my muscles we still too exhausted for me to move any more than my jaw. it’s not fair to her that Mama is a grump.

Now I need a nap.

Ohhh, I so hear you here. I had some pretty bad anxiety-induced insomnia recently as well. It’s brutal. I haven’t found any way to help myself get to sleep quickly, but, I’m working on battling the anxiety by talking myself out of it. Good luck!

I have problems falling asleep too. If not for the kids I would be up all night and sleep all day! LOL I need like 12 hours of sleep to function, used to actually sleep from 7pm to 7am when I worked outside of the home full time – that was before THREE kids – I had only one then under age 3 who slept with me. Good luck .. melatonin works for our 3 year old since he has issues settling down for sleep too.
