I think I have a budding blogger in my home

The trimester ended last week. Fluffy’s report card came home yesterday. The teacher’s comments at the end made me smile.

report-cardThis term, Fluffy has challenged herself in her writing. She hesitated in the beginning because she did not know what to write about With encouragement, she does a nice job when she writes about something that is important to her.

not sick in the head so much as sick in the whole body

We are under siege by the crud. I can neither confirm nor deny that pesky H1N1. I took Bear to the doctor last week because her ears were bugging her and the nurse practitioner didn’t offer any flu testing, so I am running with that.
Photo courtesy NASAPoor Bear is on her second ear infection in 2 months. Which likely means that the first one never went away. Nothing like that revelation to make a lady feel like a great mother. She is on a high dose of Augmentin. 2 teaspoons twice a day for 10 days. If her diaper rash is any indication, the medicine is ripping through her like a wildfire. If this doesn’t take care of it, we’ll be at the ENT next month.

Then I got it. I was out of commission from last Tuesday night on. I’m still not 100% because I haven’t been able to truly rest. I tried to, I really tried. but the 3 hours while they’re at school is not enough to count for healing. Mike is worked all weekend and I am still fighting this.

In the category of “things CAN get worse,” Fluffy started with it at bedtime yesterday. I let her get up and watch cartoon at 2:30 a.m. It wasn’t worth fighting her to go back to bed. She was up and down all night. She’s resting on the couch with a 101° fever as I type.

If you were expecting commentary on this weekend’s blogger drama: I saw the whole thing go down and was shocked at the end result. That is all.

Now to get the Bear on the bus and make a ginger ale run.

chores

Fluffy has been throwing screaming fits every time she is told to do her chores. So, I made a new chore chart for her.

I also made some generic ones using the same elements of hers. These are PDF’s that you can print off and use.

A Day at the Races

Yesterday, we were invited to the Longacres Mile at Emerald Downs. It was so much fun! It was my first time to the track. I am not much of a gambler nor a math whiz and neither is Mike.

We took our time figuring out how the whole thing worked. Over an hour. After careful analysis, we placed out bets on the best handicapped horses in an exacta box.

Then we went to check out the family activities that Emerald Downs provides for free on Sundays. Pony rides, bounce houses, face painting, my kids would never want to leave!

We watched the first walk the horse and jockeys out so everyone can see them thing and headed back to our VIP tent for lunch. Soon, I was joined by other bloggers.

I am at BlogHer for the weekend

summer begins, help me

Today is the first day of summer. Two kids home all day.

I removed Bear from the enrollment for summer school. Why? Obviously, I am a glutton for punishment. I had a good reason. According to my Facebook page:

… is thinking she is going to cancel summer school for the little one. Sixteen half days with a different schedule, teacher and school is an unnecessary upheaval.

Yeah, for her.

Today we embark on a journey of grandiose proportions. I have an ongoing science project for Fluffy (more on that later), a marketing class, Zumba (2 days per week) and BlogHer.
