Fun with Vlingo

Vlingo, it’s more than a funny sounding word. It’s a crazy voice recognition app for smart phones. In Vingo’s own words:
At Vlingo we unlock access to wireless data services. As the the inventor of the mobile phone “voice user interface,” Vlingo delivers a voice interface and technology that allows users to instantly access services and content on their device. These services include the ability send text and email messages, call contacts, search the Web, update your Facebook or Twitter status and much more by just speaking into their phone.
It’s a great idea. For those of you who have silky voices, I’m sure it works fantastic. If speak rapidly by nature or your voice has been ravaged by years of sinus infections and raging acid reflux, it works much differently. Here are some of my attempts to post verbally from Vlingo to Facebook and Twitter. Note: the interface requires stating the service you are sending the massage to before the message.
I say: “Facebook: thinks Bear has an ear infection”
Vlingo hears: “thinks there has an ear infection” pretty good.
I say: “Twitter: I did not break the internet. You can’t prove anything.”
Vlingo hears:”I do not take it you can do anything”
broken english?
I say: “Facebook: needs to find a Halloween costume for Fluffy”
Vlingo hears: “I need to find a halloween costume for sloppy”
She will think that one is funny.
I say: “Twitter: I have to get myself in for a psychiatric evaluation soon”
Vlingo hears: “I have to get my health and for I get to the I was in san”
What the what?
Vlingo is a very amusing app. Not only does it encourage me to appear even more crazy in public, it gives me a chuckle.
