I wanted to thank you at your eloquent attempt to explain to her why the misuse of the word "retard" is unacceptable. I attempted to explain it to her months ago, only to find that she gets more enjoyment at poking fun at others than listening to how her amusement can be hurtful. I would like your permission to use your explanation in the future when having this conversation (I don't like to quote people without permission). I end up having the discussion often, but am never able to explain as directly as you did.
